Gold Wing Road Riders Association
Hello Gold Wingers, My name is Leo but they sometimes call me King. I'm very proud to be called the King of Chapter K of the Arkansas Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Let me tell you how I became adopted by those great people at Chapter K. I was just a very young cub, warm and comfortable with my Mom when it started to rain. We were living at a large animal preserve, I'm not sure just where but it was a nice place as I remember. Anyway, like I said it started to rain. I mean it rained hard and we were near the Arkansas River and the river began to flood our home there on the preserve. I'm not sure how long it rained but the water kept rising and before long it washed away our home. I got separated from my Mom during the night. I was very scared and I looked for Mom for a very long time. The water kept getting deeper and I couldn't hang on and I was swept away down the river. I managed to find a fallen tree in the water that was near and I sunk my claws into the bark and held on for what seemed like forever. It was days later when the tree got caught up in some turbulence and got twisted around and ended up in some still water near the shore. It was early in the morning and I was weak, cold, wet and hungry. Somehow I was able to find the strength to swim to the muddy shore before I just collapsed and lay there in the mud. It seemed like days but probably it was only hours when I saw what looked very strange to me but it was a group of motorcycle riders. They had stopped to look at the flood waters. I was frightened but I was out of strength so I just laid there cold and wet. Then I saw one of the riders pointing at me and I could hear them talking. Pretty soon one of them came down in the mud and picked me up. I was terrified but he was holding me gently and telling me that everything was going to be alright. He opened his jacket and held me close and I began to feel warm and safe. I had survived the Great Flood of 2019. They took me home with them and cared for me almost as much as Mom had. I sure miss my Mom and I hope she made it through the flood. I've never heard anything about her since but the great folks at Chapter K have adopted me into their chapter. After I got to feeling better they started taking me to their meetings and I got to meet a lot of the Chapter K members. Lately they have been taking me on rides around the state and some of them are talking about long trips. Maybe someday we can go up river and look for my Mom. I don't know if I could ever leave the great folks of Chapter K but I sure would like to know that my Mom is okay. Maybe they could take her in as well. I know she would love all the traveling and the stops at the Dairy Queen, my favorite place. Well now you know how I became a part of the GRRRREATEST Chapter in Arkansas. Stop by and visit anytime you're in the Benton/Bryant area and look for us when we come rolling in to see you. I look forward to meeting all of the great folks that make up the GWRRA.
